KIT scheme
(keeping in touch)
The KIT scheme is designed to
maintain contact between the TU Berlin and staff on parental leave,
strengthen links to the TUB and facilitate the process of returning to
work after parental leave. Click here [1] for more information on

Transition to
flexible working hours
The TU Berlin can offer you
various options in order to make the transition to flexible working
hours which are conducive to finding the right balance between work
and family life. You can obtain information in your personnel teams
[2], from the Personnel Representation Council [3] and in the Family
Services Office [4].
- Agreement on transition to flexible working hours (DV Flex) [5]

lllness of
child
As an employee you can take up to 10 days off work
in any given calendar year if your child is ill. The details are set
out in the collective pay agreement (see below). You may also be able
to claim sickness benefit for the care of the child. The following
paragraphs of the fifth German code of social law (SGB 5) will tell
you if you are eligible to claim and, if so, for how long and in what
amount:

Further education
opportunities
The Further Training Services Office (II
WB) and the Center for Further Academic Training
(ZEWK) offer continuing education opportunities for
all TUB employees even during parental leave. The courses are aimed at
members of staff and managerial staff.
