Registration and booking
On account of the urgency of the situation, bookings can be made directly with the provider Die Kinderwelt GmbH. It is advisable to telephone first to allow time for childcare staff to be organized as necessary. There should be at least 48 hours between the booking and the childcare session.

The Family Services Office needs the following documents from the legal guardians:
- A copy of the booking form in order for the relevant line manager to be able to confirm the operational necessity of the childcare in the accounting process
- Confirmation of the cancellation of regular childcare from the relevant facility where any such cancellation applies
Please submit these documents at least one week before the childcare session:

IMPORTANT: The costs can only be assumed if the required documents have been submitted. We reserve the right, where applicable, to forward the invoice to the legal guardians.
The number of hours negotiated with the provider Die Kinderwelt GmbH is limited and there is therefore no automatic entitlement to emergency childcare financed by the TU even if the eligibility criteria are met. Childcare may only be provided if there are sufficient childcare hours to go round and if all parents take a reasonable and proportionate share. A record is therefore kept of how often the childcare service is used by each legal guardian.
Information on the registration process can be found here .
Eligibility for emergency childcare
Employees are eligible for free emergency childcare if these criteria are met.
The line manager decides on the operational indispensability and the necessity of the emergency childcare and confirms the operational necessity on the booking form. If the signature of the line manager cannot be obtained before booking the childcare session, it may be submitted on the next day.
The line manager also decides on the duration of the childcare session with the employee. The emergency childcare only applies to unexpected childcare required at short notice. Advance notice of up to one week is deemed short notice in this context.
Opening times and places of care
The line manager and employee decide on the duration of the childcare session based on the operational requirements.
The emergency childcare is provided in the parent and toddler rooms on the Charlottenburg campus and on the Gustav-Meyer-Allee campus. In justified exceptional cases, the childcare may also be provided at the child's home.
Other emergency childcare providers
The Family Services Office has also made arrangements with the babysitting agency Babysitter-Express and has put a booking system in place which is intended to help you to organize emergency childcare. These services must be paid for privately, however, or claimed as expenses in connection with TU projects! The following information and forms are available:
•Booking procedure for TU parents (for private account)
•Booking procedure for TU projects (e.g. DFG-funded) and TU faculties
The parent and toddler rooms can also be used for childcare at short notice. Please note the terms and conditions of use in any given case.
